Demonstration of Freedom of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) In Timor-Leste was created by Acacio Cardoso Amaral. The avian influenza pandemic that affected birds from most parts of the world was caused by the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI). Timor Leste is currently free from HPAI, in contrast to most Southeast Asian countries where the disease is widespread. Avian influenza (AI) is an infectious disease that attacks poultry and has the potential to spread across national borders. The above diseases are characterized by high transmission rates and severe impacts on both domestic chickens and lying birds. Additionally, it has the potential to infect various other species, including humans. The etiology of this disease can be attributed to Avian Influenza viruses (AIVs), which are classified in the Orthomyxoviridae family. The aim of this book is to gather information to present the possibility of whether Timor Leste is truly free from HPAI and to determine the risk factors that may contribute to the introduction of this disease into the country.
